Acupuncture
Developed in the East and embedded in the main modalities of healing and prevention of Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture is an ancestral system of natural therapy that is being increasingly respected in the Western world, and can be used as it self or as a complement to the Western Medicine treatment. Integrated into a system of energy therapies such as Chi Kung, meditation, Yoga or Tai Chi practice, acupuncture is considered a stimulus that can initiate and strengthen the healing and the process of personal development.
Acupuncture has been effectively used for the treatment of back pain, headache, migraine, and sports injuries. However, acupuncture provides more than pain relief. It is helpful in treating anxiety, insomnia, digestive problems, menstrual problems, weight control, infertility and much more. Findings from basic research have begun to elucidate the mechanisms of action of acupuncture, including the release of opioids and other peptides in the central nervous system and the periphery and changes in neuroendocrine function. Although much needs to be accomplished, the emergence of plausible mechanisms for the therapeutic effects of acupuncture is encouraging. Potential physiological effects and health benefits of acupuncture include increasing peripheral circulation, augmenting skin and muscle blood flow, decreasing heart rate and reducing elevated blood pressure, regulating autonomic nervous system, normalizing gastro-intestinal motility, boosting immune function, balancing reproductive hormones.
In 2003 World Health Organization published a report about clinical trials researching the effectiveness of acupuncture. More than one hundred indication were discussed and divided into four groups concerning the strength of existing evidence, as follow:

The words that describe the effects of yoga on me, after a year of practice: transformation, spiritual evolution, well being with myself (joy), calm, overcome problems more easily.
The practice of yoga made me a more serene person and helped me to always see the positive side of situations!
As a result of yoga practice I quit smoking (I was a smoker twenty years ago, daily average of at least 20 cigarettes a day) (...) I am happier with myself. Happiness without dependencies!
